John’s career includes experience inside corporations and has 15 years of experience providing consultant support. As a consultant, John is accomplished at quickly integrating into existing teams, providing value thru a focus on deliverables, and providing seamless transition to the client at project end.

Representative Engagements

Developed Concept of Operations, System Architecture, and Test plan for a Water Contamination Monitoring System. Guided development of strategies thru incremental development. Developed Receiver Operating Curve evaluation concepts for validation. Implemented SDLC and led 10 cycles to  successfully deploy product at EPA.

Verified requirement compliance for a NASA Space Station system designed to be operated by astronauts and ground-based researchers. Consulted on project plan development and developed an integrated schedule for 600+ tasks and 8 verification engineers. Developed databases to track issues and discover unmapped requirements. Negotiated with NASA and developer boards to waive negligible compliance issues and save months of redevelopment.

Deployed and maintained a Linux and Solaris-based set of six Mission Control Centers of approximately 80 workstations and 10 servers. Developed and managed System Architecture and Security plans. Performed trade studies and recommended strategies.

Led a client’s software development department.  Charted an iterative, Object Oriented approach, starting with Use Cases and UML trace diagrams and cumulating in test cases.  Implemented a review program to comply with a metrics collection mandated by a Capability Maturity Level.

Designed the software architecture for the ground system segment of a spacecraft proposal. Developed documentation, diagrams and sub-contractor Statement of Work. Formulated a software design and estimate for 50,000 lines plus commercial product integration.

Developed software and system engineering and development using C++, Java, and Sybase RDBMS on a Sun/Solaris platform. Developed schedules, Basis of Estimates, and developed, approved, or followed ISO 900x process documentation.
